응, 보고서를 오늘 아침까지 제출해야 하는데 아직 결론 부분이 남았어.
A : You'd better make it snappy! Class starts in 2 minutes!
어서 서둘러야겠다! 2분 후면 수업이 시작돼!
B : What? I Must have lost track of time ! Ugh... so near and yet so far!
뭐라구?! 시간가는 줄 몰랐어! 으... 다한 것 같은데 아직 멀었네!
<해설>
And yet은 but과 동의어로, "So near and yet so far"라고 하면 "거의 다 되었는데 아직도 다 마치려면 멀었다." 즉 "거의 다 한것같은데 마뮈짓기가 쉽지않다."는 뜻이 된다. Pull an all-nighter(밤을새다)와 make it snappy(서두르다)도 기억해 두면 좋다.
